Causality for Mobile Processes

چکیده
We study causality in the-calculus. Our notion of causality combines the dependencies given by the syntactic structure of processes with those originated by passing names. It turns out that two transitions not causally related may although occur in a xed ordering in any computation, i.e.,-calculus may express implicitly a priority between actions. Our causality relation still induces the same partial order of transitions for all the computations that are obtained by shuuing transitions that are concurrent (= related neither by causality nor by priority). The presentation takes advantage from a parametric deenition of process behaviour that highlights the essence of the topic. All the results on bisimulation based equivalences, congruences, axiomatizations and logics are taken (almost) for free from the interleaving theory.

Causality in Autonomous Mobile Systems
The analysis of causal relations among events in a distributed computation plays a central role in distributed systems modeling. Existing models for causal time-stamping are based on a known set of entities, either processes or data repositories, where events can occur. The advent of mobile computing settings that stimulate cooperation among arbitrary groups of nodes, possibly in isolation, pre...
متن کاملCausality and the Spatial-Temporal Ordering of Events in Mobile Systems
Several mobile computing applications require that both the order of occurrence of events, and the location of their occurrence, be taken into account during decision making. Thus, processes need to track the location of nodes and synchronize their clocks. In this paper we present a framework, based on the capabilities of Global Positioning System, which provides processes with a global virtual...
متن کاملEnsuring Applicative Causal Ordering in Autonomous Mobile Computing
There is a growing trend in developing applications for mobile computing systems in which mobile hosts can directly communicate disconnected from the wired network. In such heterogenous distributed applications, the Message Oriented Middleware (MOM) technology provides many solutions, such as causal message ordering to reduce the nondeterminism. Usual implementations of causal ordering assume t...

متن کاملA New Recovery Scheme for the Long-Term Mobile Application
Recently, the widespread use of mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablet PCs, leads to a new demand for distributed mobile applications. When the mobile application has a long lifetime and it is comprised of many parallel tasks, it is required to safely checkpoint its processing states against abrupt failure. To this end, lots of works have been done to reduce the wireless traffic overhea...
